Refuse to replace when screen has a old crack which did not cause the problem?? Disappointed!!!

I just call the customer service, and I am so disappointed, I bought it 2 years ago and had some crack on one corner which does not affect my use. after a long time, my screen started flickering, and the customer service person told me even if the flickering was not caused by the old crack, but by the hardware issue they would not replace it for me. That is not reasonable. An old crack of glass should not have been an excuse for your product's other issues.
I always trusted Microsoft, but the customer service disappointed me so much. So I just want to confirm here.
