I originally went to the Microsoft Store in April to have Microsoft fix my Surface for free. However, they had not acknowledged the issue and replaced my Surface for $477 with a brand new one. Fast forward to last week and I read an article that Microsoft has acknowledged the issue and is replacing the devices and offering refunds. I called back to the Microsoft Store today and they are reimbursing my $477!!
